Favorite band!

Tori Amos is a good singer so she is my favorite in the line up.  She plays the piano, sings, and writes her own music. To Venus and back is a great mixed album which highlights her talent.  Its very soothing wheras most artists get your blood flowing.  Her knack for getting you to think and feel while hearing her music is one of a kind.  I cannot compare her to anyone because she has a style of her own.  The piano is prominent in "Icicle" as well as moments of pure silence.  Its great to listen to this and do homework or study.  The pace is relatively slow and she only starts singing on this track 2 minutes into it.  Her lyrics are stable and well thought out.  It is mellow music, which is putting my best friend to sleep as we listen to it.  She is a piano prodigy even at a young age.  She is brilliant!

Bouncing off clouds is another one of her singles, which has a good beat and also very new age.  Head bopping and all, I hear this song and think about how she is able to captivate her audience and keep us listening.  Its like she puts us into a zen place like no other musician out there.

Sleeps with butterfly's, another track, describes nature and metaphors.

Dream show line up

So it took me awhile but my dream show line up would be Rihanna, Maroon Five, and Justin Timberlake.  I know- they are all very different but it would be a great concert!  The opener would be JT, mid would be Rihanna and the headliner would be Maroon Five.  This genre would be pop related.

Second genre: rock
Theres a new artist, Astrid who I would stick in as headliner, red hot chili peppers for the mid and for the opener I would have to go with Kid Rock.  He has a few newer songs that I love so thats that.

Third genre: Country
Carrie Underwood is the headliner followed by the mid Faith Hill, and the opener would be Rascal Flatts.  This would be a killer concert by the way!

Lastly there would be the genre, Hip Hop

JZ, TI, and Lil Wayne.  Jay Z would be the opener followed by the mid with Lil Wayne and the headliner is of course TI.  This may be the best of the four genres!

I think my picks need to be looked into because they would all be sold out!  I'd go at least lol.

What a January

So this past January may have been the best of my life.  I was in California, beautiful Laguna beach for a week mid January and recently spent five days in Florida (orlando).  These vacations were much needed since I am so busy with school and work.  Now that I am back into the swing of things, I wish I had another break but no such luck.  Oh but wait- I will be in NYC in three weeks.  I live the life and before I get beat up for all these great getaways I'll wrap it up.  With close to three months left of my senior year, theres a little nostalgia thinking about leaving all this behind and possibly moving away.  I will just enjoy the remainder of my college experience and get together with friends as much as I can.

Fav new album

My favorite album would have to be Brittany spears because her new songs are amazing.  She in a sense is back in the game and really proving that her success was not short lived and made for teenyboppers.  Her comeback is unrivaled and her theme of circus really explains her life not just in the bad times.  She lives in a very different world and I definitely would not enjoy being followed around all the time and in the limelight.  I guess the good comes with the bad.  But overall her songs are great in this album and I am sure there will be more to come.

Cold

It is absolutely freezing in Pittsburgh if you didn't already know. I am very much affected by this weather, which is not fun. I need to move down to Atlanta or something, anything, just give me heat. I can deal with the cold though, it is the slush that makes me angry. Now don't get me wrong, the snow is okay but the greyish brown stuff that looks like someone spilt their slurpee is not.

But life goes on to bigger and better things, for example like my upcoming favorite holiday. Yes, you guessed it Valentine's Day. I have always loved it, even though the vast majority of them I have been single and didn't have a real valentine. I suppose I just like seeing people be happy or I just really like chocolate. Possibly both. This Valentine's Day is going to be very different for me though, not only will I not have a valentine, but I probably won't get chocolate either.

Well that is all for now, I have to go plan my shots for some photography. Until next time, stay classy.

I Am... Sasha Fierce

In the past three months there have definitely been some good albums that have come out, but Beyonce's I Am... Sasha Fierce is the only one I can't stop listening to. Overall it is a great album that is very enjoyable to listen to. Her first two singles from the album Single Ladies(Put a Ring on it) and Diva, were definitely good choices to catch her audiences attention. Beyonce comes back harder on this album and you really get to see that with Diva and Video Phone. Both songs have a steady bass track and it makes for the song to be even more catchy. On the other hand, she doesn't forget to give the soft ballads like Broken Hearted Girl. Broken Hearted Girl is one of my favorite songs off of the album because of the relatable lyrics and the build in the music composition as the song progresses. The track starts off with a simple instrument, and slowly more sounds are added from both instruments and synth. By the end of the song, the beat is slow and irresitible. As a whole the album is a bit different from her older albums due to the intensities of the songs. Majority of the tracks are more dance ready or classic r&b style, while there is not a whole lot inbetween.

Albums of 09

Yes, yes, I know it is a bit early to start talking about the albums of 2009. However, the buzz on certain albums is already getting me a bit excited.

1) Animal Collective's "Merriweather Post Pavillion"
2) Reel Big Fish's "Fame, Fortune, and Fornication"
3) Sonic Youth's "The Eternal"
4) Eminem's "Relapse"
5) Missy Elliot's "Block Party"
6) Franz Ferdinand "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand"

Also, there are a few other artists with albums in the works that may be hitting stores sometime in 09 including: Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Imogen Heap. All of which I will be waiting anxiously for. With all these albums I have high hopes for and I hope I won't be let down. I doubt it though. Time will tell and I can't wait.
